lPlot Summary|

"My dream... is to see my idol, sano izumi, high jump!"

Feeling bored on a regular Sunday morning, Ashiya Mizuki browsed through the channels of her television, watching for nothing in particular, before something caught her eye… a thirteen year old boy, just as old as herself, was about to jump over a bar that was much taller than he was. Curious, she watched on and thought for the first time, that someone’s “flying form” could be so graceful and beautiful.

Completely captivated by his jump, she began collecting all and any information on him, even calling up the broadcasting station for any information on her new-found idol, Sano Izumi.

Determined to meet her idol and watch him high jump, Mizuki decides to study in Japan. However, Sano studies in an all-boys boarding school! In true shoujo fashion, this obviously did not deter our heroine at all. And so, Mizuki snapped her locks, packed her bags and left America to attend Ohsaka High School, all disguised as a boy.

Hanazakari no Kimitachi e tells of the many exciting and thrilling happenings during Mizuki's high school life. Afterall, it's no easy feat for a girl to remain safe in an all-boy's school. Mizuki must not let anyone discover her true identity, lest she gets expelled from the school. Not only that, little by little, Mizuki is falling for her high jump idol and is trapped between remaining as Sano's friend or exposing her true gender and risk the friendship that is so precious to her.

Cliche as it may sound, together with great drawing and light-heartedness, no shoujo fan should ever miss this very enjoyable manga which have brought readers laughter, tears and heartaches!

mizuki is our very brave and extremely loveable heroine who crossed the pacific ocean meet the high jumper who inspired and changed her life in many ways -- sano izumi. as the story progressed, we are soon able to sense mizuki's unwavering sense of loyalty and justice for her friends, her vulnerability, her strengths and the one thing thing that really makes audience not know whether to laugh or cry at – how dense and slow she is regarding other’s feelings for her! definitely one of the best heroines out there!

starting out as a somewhat aloof and taciturn guy, who knew this guy would fall for mizuki so quickly? and this, is what struck me most about this amazing high-jumper. it was always so sweet and heartwarming whenever sano found his feelings for mizuki grow and grow! who would have imagined the initial loser who succumbed to stress, risk all just to protect the girl he loves in the end! well, this loud-mouthed and impulsive boy sure adds comic-relief to the series and may seem like an idiot initially but we all know he means well. haha. as described by his friends, this kind soul who often picked up 'stray cats' was the first to befriend mizuki as she stepped into ohsaka gakuen. however, things start to get chaotic when nakatsu finds himself falling for mizuki! he soon finds himself in many dilemmas and is often torn between his feelings for mizuki and their friendship. towards the end, nakatsu realises sano's and mizuki's feelings about each other. however, he was really sweet about it and argh... it was just so sweet of him! <3

Nanba is an upperclassman in ohsaka gakuen and is one of the dorm leaders. he is very handsome, and knows it. he is extremely flirtatious and hits on every girl he sees. in the series, nakao has a huge crush on him and this troubles nanba so! nanba is mainly a very nice upperclassman and a very supportive friend to mizuki and friends.

umeda-sensei is the very hot and bishie gay school doctor of ohsaka gakuen. he was one of the first to discover mizuki's gender and is always the one mizuki runs to whenever she's troubled or simply needs someone to talk to. although he would most likely deny it, but we all know that he cares for mizuki from the bottom of his heart. awww.
umeda would never stopped shocking you with his homo-homo antics though!

*cough cough* Well I know that I rarely update the journal and you must all be wondering "Why is Dorm One head updating all of a sudden?"

Well the answer is simple, after strenuous searching on the internet, I hereby present to you all the "HANAKIMI DRAMA CD!"

The voice actors doing Mizuki is so...Mizuki-like and Nanba sounds so cool! O and Himejima's seiyuu is the same guy as Haruhi's dad from Ouran Host Club

My gosh the Drama CDs are so great! There's this one when Ohsaka High is doing the play "Romeo and Juliet" (Mizuki is Juliet and Sano is Romeo) and there's this one called "Confessions of a Bishounen"!!
YOU GET TO HEAR SANO, MIZUK, NAKATSU, NANBA AND UMEDA CONFESS!!
